Our Story

Tarantella Pictures was established by filmmaker Sharad Sharan, who built his career across Indonesia, Malaysia, and India over two decades. From directing landmark Malaysian theatrical productions to pioneering Indonesia’s first premium micro-drama format, TPM has consistently been at the forefront of Southeast Asian content innovation.

Under TPM, Sharad Sharan produced Ombak Rindu (2011), shattering Malaysian box office records and earning multiple awards. He directed Lagenda Budak Setan sequels (2012, 2014), cementing TPM’s reputation for commercially successful regional cinema.

Most recently, TPM’s micro-drama Pura-Pura Nikah for SinemArt and Vidio won the Gold Award for Best Micro-Drama at ContentAsia Awards 2025, defeating entries from Korea, Japan, and Thailand, and was nominated at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2025.

Current Vision

Today, TPM is focused on three production tracks:

1. Social-Impact Feature Films—stories centred on women’s rights, justice, and contemporary Southeast Asian realities, including the upcoming theatrical release Suamiku Lukaku (May 2026).
2. Korean IP Adaptations—a slate of Indonesian remakes of proven Korean box office titles, developed with Indonesian and international partners.
3. Premium Micro-Drama—next-generation short-form storytelling for digital platforms, building on international recognition from Pura-Pura Nikah.

These tracks reflect our commitment to both impactful storytelling and innovation in content formats.
